I switched back to using etherenet at home 15 years ago because I was finding wifi so unreliable and glitchy when using ssh for remote terminal sessions, a situation where you need low latency. Then I learned that wifi was harmful, so I was ahead of the game without realizing it.
The big problem nowadays is that modern "smart" devices are crippled by their lack of ethernet ports (to name just one of their anti-features). I have one of those ethernet dongles that I use when I have to use the internet on a "smart" device. The downside is that the dongle uses a lot of battery power, and it monopolizes the port that is also used for charging. So I can't leave it connected all the time. I need to find a dongle that lets you use a charger at the same time as the network, if such a thing actually exists.

Did you ever read Olle Johansson’s article that led to his being erased from the Karolinska Institute?
